'Maybe that’s what cooking is, you know. Home in a pocket.'

Ty, Leroy and Daniel have signed up to a new Caribbean cooking group. It’s led by their Occupational Therapist, Naomi, who really needs it to go well. Believing in the healing power of food, Naomi is brimming with plans to evoke memories of Sunday dinners at home with family, to get the men to talk, share and create something special.

But when you’re locked in a secure hospital, too much food for thought can be a bad thing.

The funny and affecting debut play from Bush Writers’ Group alum Sophia Griffin, After Sunday is a searing examination of the intertwining lives of four people as they fight to find hope for a better future.

'Everything thrown at me I should be able to handle.'

In the aftermath of the death of their matriarch, Joyce and her daughter Erica struggle with what to do next. She was the glue that held everything together, so what now?

Joyce thought she’d set Erica up for a better life, given her everything she never had. But Erica wonders if despite the therapy, the journaling, the recycling – maybe she is no different from her mum after all. Or her mum’s mum.

Maybe they didn’t break the cycle. Maybe the cycle can never be broken.

Not Your Superwoman is written and created by Emma Dennis-Edwards, and directed and created by Lynette Linton. It premiered at the Bush Theatre, London, in 2025, starring celebrated actors Golda Rosheuvel and Letitia Wright.
